Blickpunkt Identität

We are …

Blickpunkt Identität (BLICK) - an Austrian organisation that promotes the integration of disadvantaged learners into education and employment. We organise courses for young people, migrants, the long-term unemployed and women, offering individual coaching and counselling. In European and Erasmus+ projects, Blickpunkt Identität develops didactically sound learning materials and curricula; advance and adapt science-based frameworks; create needs-oriented evaluation tools; and pilot tailored training programmes. Since 2011, our program STOP DROPOUT to detect young people at risk of dropping out early of training and education, born from the Leonardo da Vinci project, reaches around 5 000 pupils and apprenticeship seekers aged 14–15 across five federal states annually, with BLICK training youth coaches and issuing licences.

What makes us special …

BLICK complements public and state education by introducing diversity and acting as a hub for research and development. The methods developed here have influenced national policy and practice. We have embedded our early identification and integration programmes as core elements of the Austrian education landscape - ensuring that every participating learner receives the support they need to succeed.

Our mission …

We are united by learner-centred practice, community engagement and evidence-based innovation. Many of our concepts are inspired by the learning through teaching approach. We involve external experts in practical learning, adapt proven concepts to real-life contexts and work closely with local partners. Our organisation concentrates on education and lifelong learning, positive psychology and resilience and active, responsible participation in public life. Accordingly, our main activities include:

  • Research into conditions that foster learning, personal development and mental and physical health.
  • Networking with like-minded schools, academies, universities, youth organisations, umbrella associations and NGOs across Austria and Europe.
  • Developing learning and teaching materials and curricula for school leaders, teachers, adult-education trainers and youth workers.
