A Whole SChOol ApproaCh for DemocraTIc EmpOwermeNt in Primary Schools
There are many ways to become part of the coACTION project and contribute to building more democratic, inclusive, and participatory school communities across Europe. Whether you are a teacher, school leader, organisation, parent, researcher, or education professional, CoACTION offers opportunities to engage with innovative approaches to education and democratic participation.
Participants can explore practical tools such as the coACTION Sensor, access resources and methodologies through the Democratic Empowerment Platform, and take part in collaborative activities, pilot actions, workshops, and international exchanges. Through these experiences, schools and organisations can strengthen active citizenship, shared decision-making, and the whole school approach in everyday educational practice.
By joining coACTION, you will also become part of a growing European network of schools and educational communities committed to sharing ideas, experiences, and good practices that empower learners and promote meaningful participation. Together, we can help create learning environments where every voice matters, collaboration is encouraged, and democracy becomes a lived experience within schools.
The coACTION Sensor is an interactive tool designed to help schools assess and better understand their democratic culture through the Whole School Approach.
Using questionnaires completed by different members of the school community (including teachers, school leaders, learners and families) the Sensor generates statistics and visual results that provide schools with a clear overview of their current situation.
The results help schools identify strengths, detect areas for improvement, and better understand topics such as participation, inclusion, collaboration, communication, and shared decision-making within the school environment.
Based on these insights, schools can define development priorities and access relevant resources, tools, and methodologies available on the coACTION Platform to support their democratic school development journey.
Below you can explore the tutorial explaining how the coACTION Sensor works and how to use it step by step.
